Applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited for the following vacancy which has arisen within Marondera Rural District Council.
MECHANIC – (GRADE 8)
KEY RESULT AREAS
- To perform routine inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs on a variety of Council Vehicles, Plant and Equipment.
- To advise on all technical matters with regards to repair and maintenance of vehicles, plant and equipment.
- To prepare for planned maintenance (vehicle service schedules and costs)
- To identify mechanical issues and faults in vehicles, plant and equipment.
- To carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle systems, ensuring vehicles are safe and functional.
- To certify outsourced vehicle maintenance works conducted.
- To maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair works carried out on vehicles, including parts used.
- To monitor fuel consumption.
- To conduct regular safety inspections to ensure vehicles and equipment are road worthy and safe to users.
- To timeously attend to emergency breakdowns of vehicles, plant and equipment.
- To order and manage inventory of vehicle and equipment parts and supplies, ensuring that necessary materials are available for repairs.
- To validate and authenticate all vehicle spares procured by Council.
- To update and maintain an asset register for all items, tools and equipment within the Workshop section.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
- A Journeyman Class 1 Certificate in Motor Mechanics
- A minimum of 5 years post qualification hands on experience
- A clean class 2 driver’s license
- At least 30 years old.
